The Futures Thinking and Innovation Laboratory primarily seeks to promote agile, anticipatory, and innovative governance by integrating futures thinking and innovation methodologies and tools in the planning, policy, and decision-making process. Additionally, the laboratory envisions becoming a platform for collaboration and knowledge co-creation involving various players that anticipate emerging issues, imagine alternative futures, and identify innovative solutions with the end goal of building sustainable, resilient, and creative communities.

The laboratory offers training courses that aim to democratize the discipline of futures thinking and foresight towards molding future-oriented citizens.

A five-week self-paced online course that introduces the key concepts, tools and frameworks on foresight, and how these can be applied to governance. The course comprises 10 modules, and is offered at no cost through the Academy's Linang learning platform.

The laboratory also offers coaching and technical assistance to organizations seeking to strengthen their internal foresight capabilities, and to utilize futures tools in their planning and management systems. The laboratory has collaborated with esteemed institutions, such as:

The laboratory also produces knowledge products to document best practices, and provide reference materials on the application of foresight, particularly in governance.

The CSF consists of interconnected labs that will be the source of many of the futures center frameworks for action. The purpose of instituting these labs is to incubate and establish its processes, eventually transforming them into centers of their own.
